Steakhouse 71 Dinner Review (the perfect vegetarian meal)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is a fantastic dining location for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Plus, I haven’t been quiet about how much I love the Steakhouse 71 Lounge.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to enjoy dinner here, but that changed in December 2025. During my Christmas trip with my family, we walked over from Magic Kingdom to grab a drink and a bite. I’m so glad we did.

It’s taken me awhile to write my review, so forgive me, but here is my Steakhouse 71 dinner review from when I dined here on December 26, 2025.

What is Steakhouse 71?

You can find Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The restaurant is located on the same level as the main lobby, where hotel guests check in.

Steakhouse 71 is the former location of The Wave…of American Flavors. The restaurant and lounge reopened with the new name and design on the 50th anniversary of Disney World on October 1, 2021.

It’s named for the year the Contemporary first opened. The space exudes history and nostalgia, especially through the photos posted in the entry hallway.

The style of Steakhouse 71 represents the 1970s, but in a modern and contemporary way. The menu also offers nods to Walt Disney with dishes inspired by some of his favorites, including Walt’s Prime Rib Hash for breakfast (this is only available when sitting down inside the restaurant).

There’s also a lounge, the Steakhouse 71 Lounge. If you aren’t able to snag a reservation at the restaurant or don’t want to have a sit-down meal, the lounge is a great alternative. Seating is first come, first served. If available, you can sit at the few tables in the lounge or at the bar. Typically, bartenders will come over and wait on you at the tables.

Steakhouse 71 Lounge doesn’t have a walk-up list in person or in the My Disney Experience app to join. You also cannot make reservations, unlike the restaurant.

Keep in mind that you don’t have to be staying at the hotel to eat or drink at Steakhouse 71 or the lounge. But, Disney World hotels can sometimes be strict about letting in non-resort guests, unless they have dining reservations. Deluxe hotels seem to be stricter about this compared to Moderate and Value resorts.

If you drive yourself or use rideshare, there is a chance the security guard at the entrance won’t let you in to park or be dropped off, especially since Steakhouse 71 Lounge doesn’t take reservations. If you use Disney World transportation (a bus or the monorail) or walk from the Magic Kingdom, there won’t be any issue.

It’s important to also note that like many other Table Service restaurants at Disney World Resort hotels, you can order food to go from Steakhouse 71. In the My Disney Experience app, there is “Steakhouse 71 To Go”, which is mobile order for Table Service.

You can mobile order from the full menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and then pick it up at Steakhouse 71. This is such a nice perk, especially for those staying at Contemporary.

  • TipReservations are always recommended for any Table Service restaurant at Walt Disney World. You can make these at the 60-day mark online or via the My Disney Experience app beginning at 5:45 a.m. ET (sometimes they don’t open until 6 a.m. ET). If you have issues, call (407) WDW-DINE. If you can’t get a reservation, you can always use a Disney dining reservation alert service, like MouseDining. If you can’t get a reservation, you can try to join the Walk-Up List for the restaurant (if available) in the My Disney Experience app.

How much does dinner at Steakhouse 71 cost?

  • It’s important to note that prices and menus frequently change at Walt Disney World. The following is based on my most recent visit.

The cost to eat dinner at Steakhouse 71 depends on what you order. Appetizers range from $10.00 to $17.00, while entrees vary between $27.00 and $31.00. Those who’d like a steak, cuts are priced starting at $32.00 and go all the way up to $48.00.

Entrees for kids run from $13.50 to $15.50. There are also sides, desserts, and beverages you’ll have to factor into the cost.

If you’re on the Disney Dining Plan, it is accepted here (1 Table Service credit per person for breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members also receive 10% off the regular price of food and non-alcoholic beverages (excluding tax and gratuity).

Below is a look at Steakhouse 71’s menu. There are also allergy-friendly options available.

Steakhouse 71 Dinner Review

Before I dive into what I had during this particular dinner. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the plant-based Steakhouse 71 Onion Rings appetizer you can order at both the restaurant and lounge.

For $10.00, you get hand-breaded onion rings served with a spicy “ranch” dipping sauce. The dip isn’t super spicy and one of the best vegan dips. Plus, the onion rings are perfectly breaded and crispy.

Now, back to this meal. If you know me, then you’re probably aware of how much I love the vegan Stack Burger at Steakhouse 71.

Some might think $24.00 is a lot for a burger, but it’s absolutely worth the cost. That’s how good it is.

It comes with an Impossible burger, sweet pickles, red onion, vegan mayonnaise, and vegan cheese. The vegan cheese is even melted! You can get it with a salad, steak fries, or pasta salad.

Sadly, the waffle fries are no longer served with the burger, but the new steak fries are good. I also recommend ordering a side of homemade ranch to accompany the fries. You can also get vegan ranch.

Technically, the Stack Burger isn’t on the dinner menu. However, if you ask nicely, you can usually still order it, including the vegan version. You can also get it at the lounge.

If you’re ordering dessert, there are several I suggest. First, the Carrot Cake Cheesecake for $10.00. It’s served with a pineapple compote, whipped cream, and candied walnuts.

I love both carrot cake and cheesecake individually and they taste even better when they’re combined. It’s the perfect size and a great way to end dinner.

I also tried the plant-based Lemon Cream for $10.00. It comes with vanilla cake, lemon curd, blueberry compote, blueberry sauce, and hibiscus meringue.

Thank you to Princess and the Bear (if you’re not following them, be sure to do so, stat!) for telling me to try this. They didn’t steer me wrong!

If you love lemon and fruity desserts, you need this in your life. It’s light and refreshing. All of the flavors complement each other beautifully..

While I didn’t order it this time, I also highly recommend the Steakhouse 71 Signature Chocolate Cake for $13.00.

It features 15 layers of Jack Daniels-infused chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, and raspberries.

I dream of this cake. It’s light, moist, and not too rich. It’s definitely shareable. Fun fact: each layer represents the 15 floors of the Contemporary.

Is dinner at Steakhouse 71 worth it?

Dinner at Steakhouse 71 is absolutely worth the visit. As a vegetarian, I appreciate the several delicious options that are on the menu, including one of my favorite veggie burgers in all of Disney World.

The food is high-quality, there are a range of fantastic cocktails and beer offerings, and the desserts are absolutely noteworthy. Plus, the service is top-notch. The hosts, servers, and bartenders are always helpful and ensure you have a great visit.

More often than not, you’ll find me at Steakhouse 71 when I’m at Magic Kingdom. The fact that I can walk to the restaurant/lounge is a huge perk.

Magic Kingdom doesn’t have the best food, especially compared to the other parks. So, if you want a break from the park or are looking for a better quality meal, try Steakhouse 71.

This is a great restaurant for those staying at the Contemporary, as well. I can’t recommend Steakhouse 71 enough. It remains one of my favorite places to indulge and lounge for a multitude of reasons.
