Review of Worlds of Marvel on the Disney Wish (with vegetarian options)

Worlds of Marvel is a Disney Cruise Line dinner designed for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The restaurant is part of three themed dining experiences on the Disney Wish that are part of rotational dining (read more about that here).

What is Worlds of Marvel like? Is the food good? Do you get to meet characters? Let’s take a look.

Here is my Worlds of Marvel review from my Disney Wish cruise in February 2024.

What is Worlds of Marvel?

Located on Deck 4, Worlds of Marvel is a themed dining experience that focuses mainly on Ant-Man (Scott Lang; played by Paul Rudd) and The Wasp (Hope Van Dyne/Pym; played by Evangeline Lilly).

As you dine, you watch on screens as Ant-Man and The Wasp navigate their first public-speaking engagement on behalf of the Avengers.

There are different funny shenanigans throughout the dinner, courtesy of Ant-Man, of course. And, in typical Marvel style, Ant-Man has to call on some fellow Avengers to help him get out of some sticky situations.

You’ll see the likes of Captain Marvel, Captain America, and Ms. Marvel. They don’t appear in person, but rather you watch the actors who bring them to life (Brie Larson, Anthony Mackie, and Iman Vellani) on screens around the room.

And you even get to experience the return of one villain that Marvel fans certainly didn’t expect to ever see again — Ultron. Yes, that Ultron. Thankfully, the Avengers are present to help defeat him.

Better yet, each table in the Worlds of Marvel dining rooms has their own Quantum Core that uses Pym Tech to shrink and grow targets. Diners participate in the action by pushing the button at the same time to help the Avengers when they need it the most.

By the time dinner ends, the day (and the Disney Wish) has been saved, you’re treated to a special appearance from Ant-Man and The Wasp or Spider-Man (appearances vary).

During my dinner, Spider-Man came out and walked around quickly to pose with each table. You don’t get to take individual photos with the characters, nor do they sign autographs. The ship has separate character meet and greets for that.

Important for those traveling with little ones or guests who have sensory issues: this dinner does have loud noises and moments of darkness.

How much does Worlds of Marvel cost?

Your dinner at Worlds of Marvel is included in the price of your cruise. You don’t have to pay anything extra, unless you want alcohol during your meal, which is an additional cost. You can also purchase wine packages that range in price.

Worlds of Marvel Review

The Worlds of Marvel menu serves a “diverse array of dishes from around the globe,” inspired by Wakanda, Sokovia, and the Avengers’ home base of New York City.

Let’s take a look at the adult menu, which includes appetizers, salads, soups, bread service, entrees, and dessert. There are also a lot of vegetarian options, which I appreciated.

You can order as little or as much as you want. Your servers are there to work with you and accommodate your taste.

First, let’s start with the bread service.

This marble loaf with red bell pepper dipping sauce was great. I really loved the dipping sauce, because it was different.

It reminded me a bit of red pepper hummus, but it wasn’t as thick.

As for the rest of my meal, I tried the Heirloom Tomato Salad from the “Wakandan Salads” section.

This was plant-based, dairy-free, and gluten-free. It came with escarole, arugula, purple onion, black beans, blue and red corn chips, parsley, and bearss lime.

Overall, this salad was decent. It didn’t blow my socks off, but it was good and I really enjoyed the dressing.

Instead of getting an appetizer or soup (the latter were both made with chicken stock), I asked if I could have double of the Ricotta Gnocchi, because I was starving. This wasn’t a problem and you can see just how big of a portion I was served.

The Ricotta Gnocchi was listed under the “Vegetarian” options and came with fontina cheese, caramelized grape tomato confit, broccoli rabe, and arugula pesto.

All of the ingredients worked really well together and I loved the lightness and freshness of the dish. Plus, you can’t usually go wrong with gnocchi and cheese.

Finally, for dessert, I ordered the “Cheesecake Byte,” which was also the “Signature Dessert”.

The cheesecake came with fresh berries, strawberry jelly, and whipped cream. I was disappointed in this, because it didn’t taste like normal cheesecake. The texture was off. It wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever tried, but if you’re a cheesecake fan, like myself, don’t get this.

At the end of dinner, Spider-Man came out and ran around the room to say hello to all of the guests. He stopped quickly for one photo with my table. He had a lot of tables to visit, so he moved — fast.

This isn’t a traditional character dining experience, meaning he didn’t stop for lengthy photos and to sign autographs. It was more of like a, “hi/bye”, type situation. Even though we didn’t get to interact with him, it was still fun to see Spider-Man.

Compared to my other meals, Worlds of Marvel was a bit more hectic and that could’ve been due to multiple factors. That said, the dinner was fine and my servers were fantastic, but it wasn’t my favorite out of all the main dining experiences.

As a Marvel fan, I thought the theming was cool and had a fun time.

Is Worlds of Marvel worth it?

Yes, I think it is and even more so for Marvel fans. I think the food is fun and themed well. There are certainly pros and cons, but, overall, Worlds of Marvel, is a unique dining experience.

While you can skip any of your rotational dining, I suggest giving Worlds of Marvel a try at least once, especially if you’ve never eaten here. After all, it is included in the price of your cruise.

Worlds of Marvel is certainly tailored to Marvel fans. The interactive experience, the characters, and the storyline won’t register with everyone. Some guests may be confused or not enjoy the experience at all, which is understandable.

Even though Worlds of Marvel wasn’t my favorite dinner when I was on the Wish in February 2024, I didn’t hate it. As a big fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I’m glad I was able to experience Worlds of Marvel.
