BoardWalk's Trattoria al Forno Dinner Review (is the Italian restaurant at Disney World worth it?)

If you’re looking for an Italian restaurant at Disney World, you need to head to Disney’s BoardWalk.

Why? Because that’s where Trattoria al Forno is located.

Trattoria al Forno is connected to AbracadaBar, a very cool lounge that celebrates the golden age of magic. You can grab a range of great cocktails here, but I’m not here to rave about AbracadaBar.

Instead, I’m here to talk about Trattoria al Forno. I’ve eaten here twice, but this Trattoria al Forno dinner review is from my most recent visit on February 11, 2024.

What is Trattoria al Forno?

Trattoria al Forno is a Table Service restaurant located along the BoardWalk, a stunning resort that comes to life at night due to the plethora of evening entertainment.

Breakfast and dinner are only offered here. Dining reservations are accepted, along with the Disney Dining Plan (1 Table Service credit per person). Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members also receive 10% off the regular price of food and non-alcoholic beverages (excluding tax and gratuity).

Tip: Reservations are always recommended for any Table Service restaurant at Walt Disney World. You can make these at the 60-day mark online or via the My Disney Experience app beginning at 5:45 a.m. ET (sometimes they don’t open until 6 a.m. ET). If you have issues, call (407) WDW-DINE. If you can’t get a reservation, you can always use a Disney dining reservation alert service, like MouseDining. If you can’t get a reservation, you can try to join the Walk-Up List for the restaurant (if available) in the My Disney Experience app.

How much does dinner cost at Trattoria al Forno?

It’s important to note that prices and menus frequently change at Walt Disney World. The following is based on my most recent visit.

The cost of dinner at Trattoria al Forno varies, but entrees range from $27.00 to $39.00, while kids’ meals range between $13.50 and $16.50. You’ll also need to factor in if you want additional items, like appetizers, desserts, or alcoholic beverages.

Are there characters at Trattoria al Forno?

At this time, there aren’t characters at Trattoria al Forno.

In the past, characters appeared at breakfast during the Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast. You had the chance to meet characters like Ariel, Prince Eric, Rapunzel, and Flynn Rider.

However, this has not returned to Trattoria al Forno (yet). It is currently listed as “temporarily unavailable” online.

If or when it returns, I will let you know. Until then, you can enjoy breakfast without characters at Trattoria al Forno.

Trattoria al Forno Dinner Review

If you want really good Italian food when you’re at Disney World, you need to visit Trattoria al Forno for dinner.

It can be hard to find quality Italian food, especially at a theme park resort, but Trattoria al Forno knows exactly what it’s doing when it comes to Italian dishes.

During my most recent meal, I, of course, started with an espresso martini for $15.50. On the menu, you’ll find this under “Menta Espresso Martini”. It comes with Fernet Branca Menta Liqueur, Antica Sweet Vermouth, and Espresso. Warning: this is mint flavored.

However, instead of having a mint espresso martini, I went with a classic version, which was absolutely delicious. I’m a big mint fan, so I will have to go back to try the Menta Espresso Martini.

Following the cocktail, my server delivered some complimentary bread with an olive oil and garlic dip. Just look at all that garlic! This was fantastic.

I appreciate that Trattoria al Forno has some great vegetarian options, including a Plant-based Bolognese served with rigatoni and slowly braised ragu for $27.00.

You get your bang for your buck with this dish. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor.

There is also the $28.00 Truffle Gnocchi that comes with parmesan, fontina, and truffle cream. If you love cheese, truffle, and gnocchi, you do not want to sleep on this.

I did not try anything for dessert, because I was way too full after eating all of the bread and amazing pasta.

Unfortunately, you can no longer order food to go from Trattoria al Forno. Previously, you could mobile order from the restaurant in the My Disney Experience app. This was a nice perk, especially for those staying at BoardWalk.

Is dinner at Trattoria al Forno worth it?

Yes, dinner at Trattoria al Forno is absolutely worth it.

This is one of the best meals I’ve had at Disney World, and I’ve eaten at a lot of places. Sometimes it’s not easy finding really good Italian food, but Trattoria al Forno doesn’t have that issue.

While it is on the more expensive side, it’s worth it. Personally, I’d rather pay more for a quality meal.

Depending on the weather, I love that you can also sit outside to dine, Luckily, it was a gorgeous day when I had dinner here and the beautiful BoardWalk views made dinner even better.

Trattoria al Forno has high quality dinner food and something for everyone. There are also allergy-friendly menus for both kids and adults.

This is truly a great dinner option. It’s even walkable to and from EPCOT, which is great if you prefer to have dinner outside of the park or if you need a break from the crowds.
