If you’re a vegetarian who’s heading to Universal Orlando Resort, let’s talk about some of the different vegetarian options you can try.
It’s been years since I’ve been to both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, but I rectified that by visiting on August 12 and 13, 2024.

As a vegetarian, I’m always on the hunt for solid vegetarian dishes at Walt Disney World. So, of course, I had to do the same when I stepped away from the most magical place on earth and headed to Universal.
Here are all of the vegetarian options I tried at Universal Orlando, including photos, descriptions, and ratings.

Vegetarian Options at Universal Orlando
Vegan Pizza Tots

The Vegan Pizza Tots come with plant-based pepperoni, sausage, mozzarella and parmesan cheese over tater tots.
These were excellent and served piping hot. You get a lot for the price and they are perfect to share.
Earl Grey & Lavender + Strawberry & Peanut Butter

I’m not a tea or lavender fan, but I had to try the Earl Grey and Lavender at Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream Parlour.
So many people rave about this ice cream and I get it now. It doesn’t have a strong tea or floral flavor and is somehow also super refreshing.
As for the Strawberry Peanut Butter, delicious! No wonder this is Harry Potter’s favorite kind.
Vegan Pasty Pie

Talk about a flavorful and flaky savory treat. The small hand pie is stuffed (and I mean stuffed) with Beyond meatless beef crumbles, potato, and vegetable filling.

This is a small, but mighty snack that I can’t recommend enough.
Carl’s Crispy Cauliflower

Who knew Minions could cook so well? Minion Cafe isn’t messing around when it comes to the menu.
While a bit on the pricey side at over $17.00 (with tax), Carl’s Crispy Cauliflower comes with crispy cauliflower florets with sweet and spicy chili sauce, coconut blue rice, Thai cucumbers, and edamame.
The cauliflower is beautifully crispy and then when you dip a piece in the sweet and spicy chili sauce? A mouthful of heaven. This vegan dish was hands-down my favorite thing I ate during my trip. It was so good, I got it twice.
Minion Tots

Minion Tots are not only adorable, but they are the best tots you will ever eat. I’m not exaggerating. They aren’t like standard tots, but have a thicker potato consistency and are so much better.
I have no doubt that even Napoleon Dynamite would choose these over his beloved traditional tots.
Vegan ODB

I love doughnuts — a lot. Voodoo Doughnut truly lived up to the hype.
This vegan ODB doughnut comes with chocolate frosting, Oreo cookies, and peanut butter. Yes, all of it is 100 percent vegan. The chocolate, Oreos, and peanut butter went extremely well together and truly made for the best sweet treat.
Vegan Chocolate Frosted

If you’re looking for a standard cake doughnut, get the Vegan Chocolate Frosted. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
You might think it’s a typical doughnut, but it’s so much better. I’m still dreaming about this one.
Vegan Everything Pretzel

I really wanted to love this vegan Everything Pretzel, but, sadly, it was a bit of a disappointment.
Full disclosure: it’s supposed to come with a spicy curry vegan aioli dipping sauce, but they were out. It might’ve been better with the aioli. That said, the pretzel by itself was just ok, kind of dry, and on the tougher side.
Pumpkin Pasty

Calling all my fellow pumpkin pie lovers. The Pumpkin Pasty is basically a mini pumpkin pie that’s flaky and full of pumpkin goodness. Need I say more?
Shrekzel

The Shrekzel is vegan on its own, but comes with a side of green cheese that is not plant-based.
The cheese tastes like cheese, so don’t let the color fool you. It actually gets its green color from spinach powder (it does not taste like spinach).

As for the pretzel, it’s cute and fits Shrek’s area of DreamWorks Land perfectly.
However, it’s simply a soft pretzel that is quite expensive for what it is. Although, I do appreciate that the Shrekzel doesn’t come loaded with salt.
Jumbo Cheese Slice

If you’re looking for standard theme park pizza or are traveling with pickier eaters, go to Louie’s for a jumbo slice of pizza (that can easily be split).
This was your typical piece of cheese pizza and nothing that will wow your taste buds.
Vegan Stir Fry

During my trip, I stayed at Cabana Bay Beach Resort, where I tried the hotel’s main Quick Service location, Bayliner Diner. Upon my arrival, I grabbed dinner at the “International” station, because they have a vegan stir fry called “Mindful Chick’n Stir-Fry”.
It comes with vegan chicken and stir-fry veggies served on top of jasmine rice. This was massive and definitely shareable! Sometimes it’s hard to find fresh veggies at a theme park, so this made for a nice, light option that was super filling.
